SHELTERS:
Currently, AFF is supporting financially 2 shelters which harbor children who are orphans, homeless or disadvantaged and provide them with an opportunity to go to school.
– MÁI ẤM MAI LIÊN : located in Saigon, run by Catholic nuns, with currently 18 residents from 3rd grade to 12th grade. AFF provides 8 scholarships ( primary and secondary education are not free) and also contributes to its foods budget. The Foundation also provides help with the physical structures of the shelter, it had recently installed a water filter system for the unit and remodeled the dormitory.
– MÁI ẤM HOA HỒNG NHỎ: This shelter is located in My Tho, a city south of Saigon, run by Catholic nuns, with about 18 disadvantaged children residents. The Foundation is providing 8 scholarships and also helps with the foods budget. Recently, AFF has contributed to the remodel of the shelter as well as the sanitary facilities.
– MẮI ẤM PHAN SINH: This is a shelter for people with physical and/or mental challenges , including orphan children and homeless old adults. From 2011 to 2015, AFF contributed to the operating expenses for the shelter. AFF also provided funding for physical therapy equipment, a first aid cabinet, and a water filter system for the whole shelter.
In 2015, once the shelter was found to be financially sustainable with other charities, AFF decided to redirect its efforts to other more needy areas.
